A portable hybrid rocket motor with a transparent fuel grain.
While working at the Stanford Propulsion and Space Exploration (SPaSE) Lab, I created a hybrid rocket motor to demonstrate principles of propulsion design to undergraduate classes. It uses solid acrylic and gaseous oxygen as the propellants and the flow solenoids are controlled by an Arduino via a wired custom controller.
I designed and assembled the enclosure, fluid systems, electronics, and software. The physical enclosure was modeled in Solidworks and the software is Arduino C++.
